ITS A SMALL WORLD AFTER ALL! - Musical 20/11/17

Today, during the Musical Kete, we practised our script and practised singing songs that will be in the Lion King Musical!

Link #1
Link #2
Link #3

I'm excited to see how we portray the Lion King onstage!
- How are we going to do the final battle with Scar?
- How are we going to make Scar die?
- How's the dance routine going to play out?
- Will the audience laugh to the cheesy jokes?

What does your animal look like?
My animal is currently a bird, which is mostly known as a hornbill.
I believe my wings are going to be connected with my arms to give the massive wing look.
I'm not 100% sure how I'm going to make the Zazu face, will I just dye my hair blue to give the Zazu hair look?

How does your animal move?
During the Lion King.
My character is a bird, Zazu is mostly seen flying so in some occasions I will flap my wings to give from one side of the stage to the other, if I am doing a short movement I'll just walk!

What are the personality traits of your character?
The Personality traits of Zazu are.
- Loyality
- Funny
- Fast Pased
- Comedic

How would you portray Zazu?

Let's see my b(aim)e of my existance - Convention Badge - Task 10

AIM : I aim to write up a new conservation organisation and explain what I plan to do.

METHOD :
1 - I will start by creating a creative organisation name to make it catchy and memorable
2 - I will then explain what I plan to do what this new organisation I've developed.
3 - I will make a relevant video for visible evidence that I've done this without any copying

CAN : Conservation Action Nation

AIMS

  • I will make sure that conservation is remember that people will use it more reguarly
  • I will make the company recognised by doing a pick up trash charity so that the grass and land will survive and it'll last for longer period of time
  • I will spread the word and make others be apart of CAN
  • I will also make sensible actions explaining what CAN and conservation is around the world to most people

EVIDENCE.

There's way too many stars - Conversation Badge Planning!

PLAN

TASK 2. = 1 Stars.
AIM - This lesson I am going to make an acrostic poem about Conservation and what it means.

METHOD.
1, I need to do an acrostic poem and use conservation as the main word
2. I will make sure that the poem makes sense
3. I will also take a photo of me as evidence so that I can prove that it isn't stolen

C - Control usage of water you use

My brain isn't HALLOW! - Forestry Continued! 21/9/17

Consequences of Deforestation

  1. There won't be enough oxygen for the human race to live off, There would only be carbon dioxide
  2. There would be no more wood for Structures and Papers.
  3. The human race needs suitable requirements to survive and forest is really important
  4. Some Animal Species will have no where to live and they would cause a much over streets and other places
Strategies
  1. Plant more trees so that it can lower the tree cutting
  2. Go Paperless! The less paper we use the more trees we save in the process
  3. Eat Vegetarian meals! The more veggies we eat the more healthy trees will be with space being taken
Case Study
  1. Palm Oil is an important source made by veggies
  2. Palm Oil is used for candle making
  3. ...
  4. ...
Project
This is our Project!
This trap is used to trap rats safely, and increase kiwi breeding.
The trap is triggered by attempting to get the cheese, by saying please.
Do you think it will work?

You can say, We're growing up like Trees- Forestry 15/9/17

LO - describe what the issues are in regards to the destruction of forests and what we can be done to regenerate the forests

1)

  1. Paper
  2. Structures
  3. Oil
  4. Wrappers
  5. Boxes
2) Finished on the Websites
3)
  1. Ackama Rosifolia Link
  2. Beilschmiedia tawa Link
  3. Coprosma Obconica Link
  4. Coprosma Repens Link
  5. Coprosma Rugosa Link
4)
  1. Trees are alive, they breathe carbon dioxide and produce oxygen for us, humans to breathe and survive
  2. Unlike Humans, Trees will not perish for a long time, they'll stay alive for thousands on years
  3. The Main part of tree, the trunk is protected by a think layer of bark
  4. If we plant trees it will decrease the chance of erosion
5)
Sustainability relates to Science in multiple ways. Looking into the ways of helping and protecting some important pieces of life, known as Nature. By doing this topic we will also look into other ways to protect these animals, maybe by trying to find a cure to a certain disease. We may also look at other scientific ways to help people and nature survive through time.

What is happening to our forests
---------------------------------
1) The Forests are dying for multiple reasons.

  1. Over Crowding. Too many tree are around which leads to dangerous wildfires, after when the fire is contained and stopped the ground because not suitable for tree and plants to live anymore, this is known as poor regrowth
  2. Log Cutting. People are cutting trees to make paper, and these trees that they cut takes at least 80 years to grow, as most of them aren't even getting close to that time when are one hundred percent ready to be cut
I have some suitable pictures to support my view, as you can see in Diagram 1 the trees are crowded which leads to less space for the roots, and the roots may also get tangled with other trees and if a fire starts as shown in Diagram 2 the fire is very, very dangerous for those who are around. Which leads me to Diagram 3, which is poor regrowth, the fire residue is very unhealthy for trees to grow from. Which leads the trees from green to brown, another reason why the forests are getting unhealthy is from too many trees getting cut down for paper as shown in Diagram 4. I believe we can end some of these by reducing the paper used and letting some trees grow for an appropriate amount of time before they get cut down.

14/9/17

LO : Identify endangered species in NZ, explain why they are endangered and create a way to increase the population of the species.

TASK 1
------------
1)  Endangered Species - An Endangered Species is a Specie which is almost extinct and needs help to repopulate
2)
1 - Maui Dolphin
2 - The Mokohinau stag beetle
3 - The Canterbury knobbled weevil
4 - Isoetes
5 - New Zealand Fairy Tern
3)

TASK 2
---------------
THE NEW ZEALAND SEA LION
1)
2) A Bacterial disease has been reducing breeding process since 1997 - 98 which is effecting the population by decreasing the population growth of the New Zealand Sea Lions
3) The Estimated Population is around 12,000 which is really small
4) I can't really stop the bacterial disease that is spreading but i can make the area where the disease is contaminated so that it doesn't spread.

3)
Whales, are vulnerable and are sold and eaten at sushi shops!
Whales has also been hunted over the years.
Whales have also been victims in bridge building. The Bridges are taking up sea space which kills whales in the process.
During Shipping Whales are also killed in the process, the ships which are containing valuable are killing whale from underneath.
Pollution is also a major threat to the whale kind. By placing toxic waste into the water they are killing the whales, either by suffocation or just the toxic water.
Whales are also a major victim to the tangled reefs, which is fishing gear being dropped into the sea, Normally Whales would investigate and it would kill them in the process

... - Gymnastics 06/09/17

I don't mind Gymnastics, Gymnastics is one of the main things my sister does on a daily basis. I personally don't mind it because I am not that good at it.

Today in Gymnastics we were practising how to do a better front roll than we knew before. How we did this was by, pushing up with your hands to get more lift and to avoid getting hit on your head. We also practice to over come some fear, we did this by jumping forward and backward on a bar. We also sometimes did it with our eyes closed.

Bicep - Link
Tricep - Link
Carv - Link
Gluteus Maximus - Link
Abdominals - Link
Quadriceps - Link

2.
Bicep - The most important function is to support the forearm and flex the elbow in the joint
Tricep - The Function of the tricep is to control the arm
Carv - The gastrocnemius and soleus muscles taper and merge at the base of the calf muscle
Gluteus Maximus - When the gluteus maximus takes its fixed point from the pelvis, it extends the acetabulofemoral joint and brings the bent thigh into a line with the body.
Abdominals - The rectus abdominis is an important postural muscle. It is responsible for flexing the lumbar spine, as when doing a so-called "crunch" sit up. The rib cage is brought up to where the pelvis is when the pelvis is fixed, or the pelvis can be brought towards the rib cage (posterior pelvic tilt) when the rib cage is fixed, such as in a leg-hip raise. The two can also be brought together simultaneously when neither is fixed in space.
Quadriceps - All four quadriceps are powerful extensors of the knee joint. They are crucial in walking, running, jumping and squatting. Because rectus femoris attaches to the ilium, it is also a flexor of the hip. This action is also crucial to walking or running as it swings the leg forward into the ensuing step. The quadriceps, specifically the vastus medialis, play the important role of stabilizing the patella and the knee joint during gait.

Let's Zoo-m Through the Zoo! - Orana Wildlife Park Experience Blog

Today was an interesting day. Mr Caine kept on telling us that today was the day that we are going to Orana Wildlife Park, and I completely forgot. I brought my lunch, recess and my trusty chromebook and headed to school. I didn't realise until I arrived, nothing is going to be THAT different right?

Mr Caine didn't waste anytime getting us into our groups, he grabbed his sheets of paper and ordered us to get into our groups. I didn't mind, getting into groups was easy, but some people made it harder than it needed to be.

It felt like 5 years, but it actually took around 20 minutes. We jumped with joy into the bus which made the wheels go round and round all the way to Orana Wildlife Park.

As soon as I arrived we had morning tea, it didn't feel like 30 minutes it passed by really quickly. As they say "Time flies when you are having fun with your lads"

My group was with Mr Mitchell and Sarah, There were some "Interesting" people in my group but that didn't bother me, I'm interested in what today holds. The First thing we looked at was the "legendary" kiwi who ended up sleeping the whole time while we were there.

Since we couldn't see them active, Sarah broughts us to a shed which held stuffed animals. Inside the group got to see the actual animals. It wasn't the same as seeing them actually move but we dealt with it.

After that we walked to the next area the tiger. Sarah explained that "He is marking his territory", I turned and I saw him walking around the cage. Once he walked close to us he just stared at us and walked back and forth growling. It seemed like he didn't trust us, what a "Friendly" Tiger.

The next area was the lions stand. We walked up a few stairs and saw 7 lions having a nap. A few people tried to wake them up and succeeded. Sarah then told us an interesting fact "Lions spend 20 hours of the day sleeping and the other 4 running around" Lions are Lazybones, Who knew.

We looked at a few more animals and as soon as it started it ended. We got into the bus and drove off. Today was an interesting day, Orana Wildlife Park is an interesting place. Maybe I might go there again one day. . .

Business & Enterprise so far | Last Updated 3/7/17 | We are part of the Star Trek Enterprise

What are we learning:

I am learning to be a good entrepreneur.

How am I progressing with my learning:

  • Identifying and managing risks to your business - I identified a risk that our original product wouldn't sell well so I told the group and we changed the product
  • Being Creative - We have been creative by making our chosen product one that no one else would make
  • Solving and preventing problems without adult assistance - We haven't come to any major  problems yet but with the minor one we solved them ourselves
  • Using your resources wisely - We used the resources we were given wisely in the situation we were in
  • Working well with others - My group has worked well with other groups when they were in trouble we helped them get out of it
  • Seeing things that need doing and doing these without being asked - We have had to be reminded a few times of what to do but otherwise, we haven't done too bad
  • Discussing things with your team - We discussed on what we should do for our advert and after that, we did the advert
  • Being fair and responsible - I was fair when I took charge of the manager and then realised no one got a choice so I stood down
  • By planning and using your time well -?

What I/My company have done so far:
My company is making eggheads. The eggheads are fully customisable and make a great decoration. If you get sick of it then you can take off the shell and eat it. We are selling them for $1.50

What we need to do next:
Next, my company needs to focus on creating our product

What you expect on market day:
I expect to sell a good amount of product and we would be lucky to sell our whole product

Lets work this out - Science 25/5 and 21/6

LO : Identify the science that is involved with 4 chosen careers

1 - Mechanical Engineers
{How}
Metal is element on the periodic table by using the science that in involved with the job they are combining elements from the periodic table to create a compound
{Why}
They use the element to understand more by failing and trying again so that they use there elements better to create better stuff

2 - Science Teacher
{How}
By teaching student in there schools they are telling students what they know about science! The Teacher does experiment (If Needed) to understand more with the student about Science!
{Why}
By teaching the students they are telling the students useful information that they will need in the future

3 - Chef
{How}
Chefs use science by making and recreating dishes which to do that is to use heat. Heat is energy which it is important for a Chef to use! Energy is part of science!
{Why}
Chefs use science to understand simple things about their dishes by changing the heat a bit

4 -  Fire Fighter
{How}
Fire Fighter uses element against element by doing their job (Putting out fire (Heat) with water) Heat is producing energy which they go against every day!
{Why}
Fire Fighter uses they science to decrease the changes of a wildfire (A Fire that endlessly spreads)

-------------------------------------------------- 21/5 -----------------------------------------------
Task 1
Fire Fighter
1 ) Firefighter, I have multiple ideas for this career
2 ) The Fire Diamond - We learn about the Fire Diamond (Fuel, Heat and Oxygen) and how to make a fire properly and safely (We can do this experiment on the playground). After we can put it out
3 ) Link
4 ) I want to understand the Fire Triangle and how a proper camp fire is made

Equipment
Gloves - One per person - Plastic Gloves
Science Glasses - One per person
Bucket (Teacher)
Lighter (Teacher)

Method

1 ) Gather Equipment that is seen above and head outside and stay together in one group
2 ) Gather Dry Wood for material for the fire and bring it back to the teacher Link
3 ) Find a safe place to start a fire that is away from trees and bushes. Everyone has to agree with the spot Link
4 ) Construct a valid structure that can be used to make a lasting fire (Make one fire only) Link
5 ) Keep the fire going by blowing oxygen and placing more fuel in the fire (Don't get too close) Link
6 ) Once done, get rid of the fire by placing water over it so that it can drain the oxygen (One person does this) link
7 ) Pack away the campfire materials used and put it away in a safe area and meet back where the teacher is

Attempting to BLOW MY MIND - Science Assessment 17/5/17 and 18/5/17

Investigation:

Recently we have been working on making a Vortex Cannon. We are making it so that we can make a ping pong ball go a certain distance on different surfaces.

Method:

  1. To start off, we must collect all equipments necessary for this said experiment.
  2. Now, we will need to get a bucket. When we get this bucket we must cover the opening with duct tape.

  3. Third, we must get a craft knife and make a small hole in the other end.
  4. Now, we fill the fill the cannon up with smoke.
  5. Then, we shall now drop the ping pong ball onto the surface we will be testing the ball on.
  6. Lastly, we will will now smack the bucket on the duct tape part to release the smoke and see how far it can make the ping pong ball go

Findings

1) We managed to make our aim succeed.
2) When we made the Vortex Cannon it wasn't as neat and tidy as expected.
3) There was nothing wrong beside from how neat the vortex cannon was and that the smoke machine wasn't working. Also that a certain person in the group didn't take part
4) I would work with some other people that does work and not people who slack off.
